Continental AG’s shareholders tender 82.41 percent of the shares of Continental AG to Schaeffler Group.
At the end of the statutory additional acceptance period, a total of 82.41 percent of the shares of Continental AG, Hanover, have been tendered to the Schaeffler Group in Herzogenaurach. The additional acceptance period ended at midnight on September 16.
Schaeffler Group Industrial (INA/FAG) is the development partner for the axlebox bearings incorporated in the Velaro high-speed trains destined for Russia and China. Its Business Unit Rail has developed one complete axlebox bearing with swing-arm housing each for the two bogie variants.
In close partnership with manufacturers and operators, the Business Unit Rail of Schaeffler Group Industrial (INA/FAG) develops and manufactures solutions for any bearing application in rail vehicles. The product portfolio includes axlebox bearings together with housings as well as bearings and components for traction motors and gearboxes, for railcar connectors and tilting mechanisms, for doors and numerous other applications.
Schaeffler Group Industrial has announced that the management system of its Business Unit Rail meets the demands of the new International Railway Industry Standard, IRIS and was certified accordingly effective August 1, 2008 by Technical Inspection Agency, TÜV Süd.

These maintenance-free dry plain bearings ensure constant integrated lubrication especially where small slewing angles, vibration and oscillating movements form part of the operating conditions – without requiring any additional lubricant.
The newly developed plastic segment cage offered by Schaeffler Group Industrial (INA/FAG) is designed to improve the economic efficiency and output of wind turbines having rotor supports according to the so-called single bearing concept. Schaeffler Group Industrial will present its new bearing cage design for the first time at HusumWind 2008 in Hall 4, Booth E10.
