As the weight of the payload acts vertically downward, the bearings have to accommodate only thrust loads.Therefore, plain support of the hook shaft against the crane hook adapter is sufficient.
The plain support is adjusted against the collar at the hook shaft by means of a locknut. This prevents the shaft washer from axially clearing, when the crane hook is set on the ground.
